Philippine Holidays for November 2009

The Filipinos will be expecting more holidays for the month of November 2009. November 1 (Sunday), All Saints' Day, and November 2 (Monday), All Souls' Day, are special non-working holidays. November 27 and 28 have been declared as special non-working holidays in observance of Eid'l Adha or the Feast of Sacrifice,of our fellow Muslim community. This is based on Proclamation 1808 signed in April.

According to Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo made the decision to declare the said dates as national holidays after consultations with labor and business leaders.

“On the eve of her birthday, President Arroyo has signified her intention to declare November 27 and 28, 2009 as national holidays in celebration of the Eid’l Adha or the Feast of Sacrifice, the culmination of the Islamic world’s Harirya Hajj or the pilgrimage to Makkah (Mecca), Saudi Arabia, of Muslims all over the world,” Secretary Ermita said.

Meanwhile, November 30, a Monday, is a regular non-working holiday to commemorate Bonifacio Day. This will be a long weekend for all of us.
