Kris-Smart In Her Own Simple Ways

This girl Kris Aquino knows how to catch the attention of movie goers. She got her dream reward of being on the top 3 of the top grossers for the recent MMFF box office results. Her greatest weapon which is her magic scream is 1 tone lower and half a mile shorter that the real magnificent one, but it turned out so effectively. It simply shows that without the Queen of all media around, life in showbiz is dull. But please don't tag her as Queen of Horror, instead, the Suspense-Thriller Queen.

MMFF 2010 | RPG Metanoia

Casts:

Zaijan Jaranilla as Nico
Aga Muhlach
Eugene Domingo
Vhong Navarro
Mika Dela Cruz
Jairus Aquino
Aaron Junatas
Basty Alcances

Nico leads a dual life. One as a frail and awkward 10 year old boy who spends his summer days doing household chores for his mother, the other as a fearless, swashbuckling hero who goes on quests and fights three headed monsters when he’s playing METANOIA, his favorite massively multi-player, on line role-playing game (MMORPG-ex. Tantra, Ran, Ragnarok) with his friends. His fondness for Metanoia, a never ending struggle to be the best, has become a full-blown obsession, so much that he even plays when he’s alone, late into the night. Nico’s mother worries that he might be living one life at the expense of the other, for while his on-line persona is possibly the greatest avatar the gaming community has ever seen, the real Nico is unsure of himself and isn’t too energetic.

The Metanoia tournament arrives, they hustle their way from level to level, besting some of the most talented players from all over the world to reach the final and ultimate level. However a mysterious avatar named Sargo arrives. Sargo appears to be as much of a Metanoia zealot as Nico is, and perhaps much, much more. Seemingly armed with a great familiarity for their tactics, Sargo literally swipes victory from Nico’s hands and wins the tournament. Nico is devastated.

Later that evening, while logged on to the Metanoia game by himself, he bumps into Mayumi’s (a new kid in town) own on-line alter ego. Mayumi empathizes with Nico’s problems and reaches out to him by inviting him to come out and play “real” games with her, convincing him that the “real” Nico could use a “level-up”. Nico reluctantly agrees. Joined by Nico’s gang, Mayumi starts to teach them about more traditional games like tumbang-preso, patintero, taguan, agawan base, and the like. Slowly, much to the delight of his mother, Nico starts to come out of his shell, spending more and more time playing games outside, while spending less and less time on-line. Nico comes alive like never before, as he slowly gains his confidence and his friendship with Mayumi grows.

As things start to look up for Nico, Mayumi and his buddies, strange and disturbing events unfold within Metanoia’s virtual gamescape. Sargo, who has somehow gained an item which allows him to possess other players’ characters, is on the war path, spreading his influence like a virus, rapidly growing more powerful as his legion multiplies. Making matters worse is the fact that when Sargo possesses a game character, it’s player in the real world is subjugated to his will through a mysterious subliminal program within the game, turning them into rabid game playing zombies who can’t stop playing even if they wanted to.

Nico and friends meet up and went on-line. They discover about the malicious virus in the Metanioa game that was originally a program that simulates real life that killed astronauts in the space. When they figure out what’s going on, they decide to do something about it, and log back into the game, risking the chance that they might get possessed themselves.

Together they confront Sargo and his army in a spartan style last stand and tries to save the world of Metanoia and the real world.
