The Dinagyang fever is really over. The momentum subsided, only replicas and pictures remained. Another miraculous replica of our Virgin Mary is the one at the facade of the Jaro Cathedral. The caretaker who is a priest believes that the image is getting bigger as the years go by because its clothings are getting tight and the height increases. Churchgoers see to it that they can have a candle with the image of the Blessed Virgin Mary duly blessed by the Bishop of Jaro. So, if you want to see the real score, take your own look. The celebration of Dinagyang 2010 is all over, it was a complete gratifying result of hard work and common effort of the whole Iloilo City Community. Indeed, it was a super funtabulous celebration. Guest, balikbayan, tourist and the commoner experienced the street dancing the whole night long, it was an unforgettable event they will bring along with them as they leave our place. Our own Iloilo was once again placed in the Hall of Fame.

Marlene Aguilar Pollard Insists Her Son Is Innocent

Yesterday, Marlene has been denying the whereabouts of Jason Ivler, her son to her first marriage. Today, after the encounter and capture of Jason, she retracts her statement. According to her, Jason is innocent, it is their British bodyguard who resembles her son who is responsible for shooting Renato Victor Ebarle Jr. She explained to The Buzz host Boy Abunda how she loved her son. He is a jewel, the only treasure, so that seeing the boy around lightens her day. Maybe her undesirable past relationship contributed much to the downfall of her son. He had much of her attention and love and can't see any reason far, him passing the wrong track. Or maybe its a "Karma" for her as what she has done in the past goes back to her son. Only one thing is sure, she loved her son more than her own life.

Iloilo Dinagyang 2010 | Hall of Fame

This time the festivities can be more interesting than before. For the first time there will be a competition for the Model "Ate" Warrior. As usual, the Dinagyang 2010 will be highlighted by the Search for Miss Dinagyang 2010 to be held in Collegio de San Jose, Jaro, Iloilo City on January 17, 2010.

On Sunday, January 24 ,will be the Ati-ati tribe competition for the Dinagyang Festival 2010. There will be 12 candidate to vie for the title. As for the contest proper for the open category, 10 competing tribes will be show their dancing and technical skills.

The Dinagyang Festival is being celebrated by the people of Iloilo City and Province in honor of Senior Sto. Niño, thanking him for the good graces and abundance all the year round.

The capture of Jason Ivler led his loving mother to jail because of the Obstruction of Justice. She was detained at the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI). It was a destiny, her cell being next to Mayor Andal Ampatuan, Jr., suspect mastermind for the Maguindanao massacre. According to her, Mayor Andal was so nice to her. In return, she requested the people not to condemn the Mayor. He seemed so innocent and very kind to do such a crime. Oh my, what's happening.

By virtue of a Temporary Restraining Order, Showtime is back on the air effective January 19,2010. It was a lot of fun during its first day of revival, as if everybody missed the show so much. But the fact is that they never stopped the show instead, changed its name and presto they continue it.

This time, Anne Curtis did not wear her shorts for the past number of days. She looked dignified and demure on her clothing. Hoping she will continue that practice. Ati-atihan Festival 2010

Watch the oldest festival in the Philippines held every third Sunday of January, the Kalibo, Aklan's “Ati-atihan” 2010. According to history, in 13th century,an event explains the origins of the festival. A group of 10 Malay chieftains called Datus, fleeing from the island of Borneo settled in the Philippines, and were granted settlement by the Ati people, the tribes of Panay Island. The Ati-Atihan was originally a pagan festival from this tribe practicing Animism, and their worshiping their anito god. Spanish missionaries gradually added a Christian meaning. Today, the Ati-Atihan is celebrated as a religious festival that honors Santo Niño.


Witness the parade of different "Ati" tribes as they dance accompanied by music in drums, with their indigenous costumes and weapons and parade along the streets.The highlight of the festival occurs on the last day, when groups representing different tribes compete. The festival ends with a procession of priest carrying torches, and different images of the Santo Niño.

Watch Sinulog Festival 2010 Live Online

Witness live the biggest festival in Cebu City which is the "Sinulog" Festival 2010. Held every third Sunday of January, the Sinulog festival is the country’s biggest pageantry of sights, sounds and colors as it honors and pays homage to the patron saint of Cebu , the child Jesus Sr. Sto. Niño.

“Expect more out-of-town contingents who will be gracing the Sinulog Grand Parade. New concepts from the various contingents and better productions”, said Ricky Ballesteros, Executive Director of Sinulog Foundation.

As of now, there are already 45 contingents from various cities and provinces who confirmed that they will be participating in this Sinulog Grand Parade. Four contingents coming from Leyte (Alikaraw Festival of Hilongos Leyte, Buyugan Festival of Abuyog, Leyte, Sangyaw Festival of Tacloban City and also in Dulag, Leyte), four contingents also from Negros (Pintaflores of San Carlos City, Jimalalud de Sinulog, Sta Catalina, Negros Orienteal and Bais City), three contingents from Mindanao (Cabadbaran City, Tangub City and Lanao Del Norte) are set to showcase their prowess in Sinulog dancing.

For the first time, a contingent from Placer, Masbate in Bicol Region is expected to perform in this year Sinulog Grand Parade.

Dinagyang 2010 Update

Tickets for actual Ati-Atihan tribe competition are now available in the market. There are several judging areas where stage are being constructed, provided with seats for comfort and convenience.If a spectator wants a good viewing of the showdown, they can buy tickets at popular prices from the Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation and other ticket outlets. The main events will be on January 23, which is the Dinagyang Caravan, then the "Ati-atihan" tribe showdown on the 24th,the highlight of the festivity. There will be entries for the barangays and open category. Last years defending champion is Tribu Paghidaet. To top it all, masscotsnamed "Dagoy", which is a replica of an "Ati" wearing the headress and costume of a warrior are now being available for sale in the vicinity. One's visit wouldn't be complete without bringing it home for souvenir or"pasalubong."

Island Hopping After Dinagyang

The Sinulog Festival of Cebu is being held simultaneously with the Kalibo Ati-Atihan of Aklan every 3rd Sundays of January in honor of the miraculous Señior Sto. Niño. These festivities are among the favorite tourist destinations of Balikbayans and foreigners. They flock to these places, one after the other then proceed to Iloilo. That's why, Iloilo Dinagyang is one week delayed to the actual day of the feast. Tourists are given the chance to visit Iloilo and witness the bests of Iloilo Ati-Atihan. The style is unique, different from them. Nobody regrets being part of it. Anybody can dance in the street , dance with the beat of the drums.

After the busy two days of fun another favorite tourist destination awaits the guests. The fast-developing Guimaras Island is the local little Hongkong of the Ilonggos. The island is beautifully sculptured by Nature overlooking the deep-crystal sea. Nothing can be more exciting than lingering into its white sand beaches, enjoy the panoramic view up there as the cool wind touches your skin. There are also in-land resorts with complete amenities for comfort and serenity. The visit will never be completed without trying the sweet-mangoes and crunchy cashew nuts. Life is no fairy tale but it can be as relaxing and magical if you unfold the mystery of Nature.

It's So Painfull To Remember

The most horrible, shocking Massacre in the Philippine history is the Maguindanao Massacre with 57 victims, all of them buried on a big hole together with their vehicles. Today calls for another court hearing, the prime suspect Mayor Andal Ampatuan ,Jr denying his invovement and asking for bail to be posted for his temporary release. There are five witnesses who will stand against him. After the first witness had given details on how the tragic event happened, Vice Mayor Mangudadatu, one of complainants did not anymore wait for the second witness to utter those painful words, he immediately walked out of the court room trying to regain his composure. The truthful, simple words of the witnesses are like dagger that struck the heart of the grieving husband and brother of two victims. He is crying for justice.

This is Iloilo's most extravagant festivity. on the 17th (Sunday) on January is the Coronation of the Miss Dinagyang 2010 in Colegio de San jose, Jaro, Iloilo City.

Black is Beautiful

Talent can excel more than a beautiful face. That was proven by the very talented Erich Gonzales. Although she is not a mestiza (white cover) the quality which our other actresses posses, she is pretty and can act as well. She've got that lucky charm, her secret weapon in making things turn to gold. Blessings pour like heavy rain for her. Her latest Teleserye "Katorse" was a big hit. It garnered a good rating for a primetime bida series that gives a moral lesson to our teen-agers. Her two leading men, Enchong Dee and Ejay Falcon are both equally excellent in their own rights. That is why, right after Katorse, another project comes in, the "Tanging Yaman" with the trio at the lead cast plus Melissa Risks and Matt Evans to complicate the story. What we expect now is a super-fantastic race in the field of acting.

The year started with a big bang for Erich Gonzales and company who will perform to the maximum to prove that she is a real jewel.

MTRCB Bans Showtime for 20 Days

The show has not been careful enough in choosing their "hurados" (judges). Look at what happened now. They have been suspendid for 20 days by the MTRCB (Movie and Television Review and Classification Board) after the undesirable statements of Rosanna Roses, one of their "hurados". And what is she doing in that kind of entertainment show? In fact, it is only one of the faults of Showtime. We have been a critic about the side comments of Vice Ganda to every good-looking contestants, so immoral, everytime he gives his judgements. Just to think that the time slot of the show is noontime wherein the youngsters are at their homes for lunch.

For Anne Curtis, just a little polishing, please wear your sexiest clothing but not in shorts while hosting. Vice Ganda is smart, okey, but he needs a little ethics regarding moral values. He must watch his tongue.

I made two comments before this and kept my fingers crossed if the MTRCB won't notice the way I did. Thanks, they did.

A Fight With The Cowboys

Instead of a Mega Fight with Floyd Mayweather, Jr. the Pacquiao Team is looking forward for a match with Joshua Clottey of Ghana, Texas. So this, will be a battle with lot of cowboys as spectators. The tentative venue of the fight will be at Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Texas. If plans pursue, this will replace the scheduled Megafight on March 2010.

Manny Pacquiao plans to train in Los Angeles before the said encounter. Boxing afficionados just wonder if he can still find time for his campaign running for Congressman in Saranggani.

The Pacman wants to excel in so many fields of endeavor like Politics, Showbiz and Music. If he could only realize that he just couldn't have everything now that he has much. Somebody kind enough must share him that wisdom after the disappointing result of Wapakman. The tricks did not work.

Feast of the Black Nazarene - January 9, 2010

As expected, million of devotees followed the procession of the Black Nazarene from the Quirino Grandstand (Luneta) back to where it belongs,the Quiapo Church. The journey took them 14 hours even more. The procession left Luneta at 7:00 a.m. and arrived in Quiapo Church almost midnight. It was a pilgrimage of struggle, hope and strong belief that after a long suffering, good things will happen.

Two individuals sacrificed their lives. For their families, life was not wasted, it was for a good cause. They will continue their devotion no matter what it takes. This devotion, they will carry to their graves.

After a thorough study, Pacquiao get irritated, so that saying no for a possible match with Pretty Boy Floyd Mayweather, Jr. is his final answer for the match negotiation. His team had been lenient for quite sometime but asking too much regarding urine sampling and other drug testing procedure by the other party is already irritating. So, he is closing his doors for the undefeated pretty faced nigger.

The Black Nazarene Magic

It is a tradition, strong faith, belief taken as one to make this event possible. The worshipers rich or poor, sick or healthy consider this day, a day of pilgrimage. They offer themselves, leave their work and offer the whole day for the Black Nazarene by following the procession no matter how weak they are. A simple touch to the image will make them stronger than ever, ready again to challenges of life for the whole year round, be it in terms of finances, health and achievements. In fact they are those businessman who usually thank the Black Nazarene for the bountiful return of investments. They return the blessings by feeding thousands of worshipers after the procession. Others are thankful about the revival of their good health after suffering from dreadful diseases for a long period of time.




Some religious families continue to maintain the luster of their Black Nazarene images. They polish them well, dress the image and prepare for the yearly procession. It is continuing process within a family from generation to generation. Some have been doing this for more than 400 years as this will strengthen the ties of the family. They could afford to lose other wealth of this lives but not the Black Nazarene. They believe the strength of acquisition of Good Graces of the Lord comes from the tradition.

The chain of fate continues as they instill to their young the value of spiritual guidance to attain fulfillment in any endeavor. Yes, nobody beats the magic of the Black Nazarene.

PBB Double Up: Big Utol of PBB is Super Corny

Big Brother has to get well soon. Big Utol replaced him but he is super corny. It's obvious Big Utol is Zanjoe Marudo. He takes the command of the Big Brother House and Mariel Rodriguez, his girlfriend does the hosting. Quite a monopoly, huh. Melissa or Melay is sometimes over-acting. She was able to gain too much self-confidence. Her actuations are vulgar as if nobody is around.

The Anger of Mount Mayon

The power of nature is magnificent, it can deform the things it has created. Since Nature was provided for mankind to sustain life, it is attached to the Supreme Being. Anything of life was given gift by the Creator, the Brain, the Technology, the Space. The Brains being controlled by the Human Being, the Technology, being done by human being, the Space so vast and endless being provided for the human beings.

Included in the lower space are the land, the sea and the mountains. The volcano are mountains with different function. They are the soul of the land, the Earth. The land has its people that do their lives thru their brains. The good and bad deeds reflects the Creator. He touches us, keeps on reminding us. And the outlet is Nature. Our Mt. Mayon is the way of expression of anger of our Supreme Being. The recent in human killings and evil deeds of our people are enough to push a big explosion from Mt. Mayon. Lava flows as much as we do the wrongs. A big change must happen, the religion, political and social aspects of the society. Our cry is reform.

Showtime : Anne Curtis

We always admire Anne Curtis since she joined showbiz at a tender age until now. Having a show of her own like Showtime is a great achievement. We are happy for her as a host but unhappy because she doesn't dress properly sometimes. Hoping she could consult a couturier to advice her what to wear while hosting. She can be sexier but not on very tight short pants.

Dinagyang 2010 More Updates

This time the festivities can be more interesting than before. For the first time there will be a competition for the Model "Ate" Warrior. As usual, the Dinagyang 2010 will be highlighted by the Search for Miss Dinagyang 2010 to be held in Collegio de San Jose, Jaro, Iloilo City on January 17, 2010.

There will be 12 candidiate to vie for the title. As for the contest proper for the open category, 10 competting tribes will be show their dancing and technical skills.

The Dinagyang Festival is being celebrated by the people of Iloilo City and Province in honor of Senior Sto. Niño, thanking him for the good graces and abundance all the year round. As of this moment, all hotels, motels and lodging houses in the vicinity are all fully booked. There are boarding houses that accomodates transient boarders anyway, so visit is not impossible.

The CNN Hero Has An Eye For Angel Locsin

We all know Efren Peñaflorida, our CNN hero to be a person of credibility and good moral values. He is a hero in his own right, did his job without any compensation or return, thereby giving inspiration to our youth that financial constraints is not at all a hindrance when pursuing an endeavor. only few of us can show concern for our fellowmen and having him in the Philippines is a great pride for us Filipinos.

Most people were shocked last Sunday's episode of The Buzz wherein Angel Locsin was among the guest and admitted that Efren Peñaflorida whom she met only last November on a plane wants to court her. In fact, he already visited their house and talked with her father. It seems as though Efren is proud enough being interviewed and featured by Boy Abunda in The Buzz confirming everything as what Angel said. He further said that he is person with NGSB (No Girlfriend Since Birth) and wanted to marry Angel if given the chance.

A piece of advice for Efren: We expect much from him, hope he will not forget his mission. A lot of people still depend on him and juggling his affair with showbiz will defeat his noble purpose. If he is in love with Angel, he can make his courting process very privately. Thus, his supporters wont be puzzled as to what his drive is. He is already making a good name for himself, he might be mistaken for one wrong move.

The latest of ABS-CBN, Showtime is already making a hit in the rating. According to some people it's so entertaining. But some audience said its irritating. They are irritated about Vice Ganda who use to monopolize the show with his/her? ugly comments. Anne Curtis is everybody's favorite but she is not properly dressed in her show.But overall, they did a great job.

Mayon Volcano Down To Alert Level 3

It is good thing, everybody is back to his normal routine. Although there are some who are not yet allowed to go back to their homes, the children are back to their homes, the children are back to their classes. Legaspi City had benefited from the so-called explosion because business is brisk, tourist abound so that there are more rooms for employment. Hotels and restaurants all throughout the vicinity are fully booked.
