Panday Strikes Again

As expected, it is the action packed- fantasy movie which is making the most in the box office during the recent Metro Manila Film Festival. A tribute to the King Fernando Poe Jr. "Panday" was produced by Bong Revilla Jr. and bring it to the box office as top-grosser with "Ang Darling Kong Aswang" by Vic Sotto and Christine Reyes as a close second. The Shake, Rattle and Roll 11 with its all star cast comes third as they were well-supported by the kids this Holiday Seasons. We can't deny the dramatic prowess of the Mega Star Sharon Cuneta with "Mano Po 6" positioned in the 4th place. But of course, the Sharonians always find enough heart for the film starred by Gabby Concepcion, "I Love You Goodbye" in the 5th place. There are speculations that the Mega Star might make it to the Best Actress Award and who knows Gabby Concepcion with all his magical spell will now get the most coveted Best Actor Award which he lost several years ago.

And who could forget the controversial Krista Ranillo as the best enemy of Manny Pacquiao in his entry Wapakman? It was made so controversial, whether true or not, but it put Krista Ranillo in the upper limelight giving them more supporters compared to "Nobody, Nobody but Juan" of Dolphy. The charisma of the comedy king did not work this time. Maybe he has lived his fame for so long and today's audiences are more attracted to high technology movies wherein more visual effects are used to justify fast movements. We owe the tricks to graphics with the aid of computers to dramatize scenes and actions to become more realistic and believable.

This update is only two days after the showing of MMFF entries. Changes might happen but we can see the trend. So keep watching.
